"Julio Salgado aka DJ Birth Defects is an independent DJ/Producer in the El Paso/Cd. Juarez border music and art scene. Since 2003, Julio has worked with local musicians and artists who were actively voicing social justice issues in the border. Due to this major influence, Julio’s musical activities have always been surrounded with the needs of the community. Julio has performed in museums, Universities, festivals, benefit shows, protest shows, farmworkers centers, and in neighborhoods prone to violence. Most notably, El Paso Firme: Action Against White Supremacy, Chuco Strong: Art Show Fundraiser for Victims Fund and the 24th Annual Global Fest (West Lafayette, Indiana) and the Global Music Festival at Boston University."
